Western Australia, the largest of the Australian states. With a total area of 2,529,875 square kilometers, it is approximately seven times larger than all of Japan. We cultivate our oaten hay in the Mediterranean climate characteristic of the southwestern region of the state, on the outskirts of Perth. To the west runs the coastline against the stunning emerald green of the Indian Ocean, while a vast desert surrounds the region on all other sides. The nearest other city is Adelaide, more than 2,700 km distant. It is easy to see how Perth has come to be called "The most isolated city in the world." Such unique regional characteristics allow us to guarantee the highest degree of safety in all our agricultural products.
Compared with other agricultural regions, Western Australia remains closest to its wild and natural state. Our products are grown under the natural rains without the need for reliance upon irrigation, and the fertility of the soil is maintained through grazing and rotation. Even fertilizers are needed only at a requisite minimum. While our cultivation methods which make the most of these natural benefits do not increase the yield per acre, they do bring about conditions that make it highly beneficial for the growing of oaten hay.
Gillett's traceability starts with our fields. We maintain a keen awareness of the raw materials that go into our fields, keeping tabs on the usage histories of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers in our past crops, all for the end result of better contaminant removal.
After the hay is harvested, dried, and baled, we affix management tags to each of the individual bales. By tagging the bales before they go into circulation, it allows us to prevent any mistakes that might occur when the bales are taken into warehouses or when they are used as raw materials.
The ultimate deciding factor, however, is our printing of ID codes onto product labels. At the time our products are manufactured, we print a manufacturing control number on all of our bales of hay. By taking such an action, we are able to trace each bale in "Bale Units".
After we purchase our raw materials, we conduct tests for ARGT (Annual Ryegrass Toxin) before they are taken into our warehouses. Through such measures, we avoid the possibility of introducting raw materials that might pose hazards to domestic livestock, and such materials will never be mistakenly used.
We also conduct X-ray screening tests on our raw bales of hay before they are subject to any processing. Such techniques have been proven effective in removing any foreign bodies or contaminants. We have even introduced metal detectors on our processing lines, further solidifying our commitment to safety in our end products.。
