The bounty of the Rockies
The fertile land at the foot of the Rocky Mountains provides a cool climate, ideal for the cultivation of timothy. The province of Alberta has been gifted with an abundance of such land, and it is there that Green Prairie is located.
We are well-equipped with our irrigation facilities in the Lethbridge region of southern Alberta, while our main growing fields are in the vicinity of Calgary, in central Alberta. Green Prairie has been actively offering production guidance even before timothy was being produced as an export crop, all for the purpose of deepening our cooperative ties with our growers.
Aiming to be number one in quality
Our goal is to be number one in our industry in terms of quality, not quantity. With this goal in mind, Green Prairie has come to be a pioneer in the constant introduction of new technologies in this field. One such technology we have introduced is a color spectrometer used for grading. We use spectrometer to measure the color patterns of each of our timothy lots, allowing us to determine its grade through a comprehensive assessment of admixtures of green timothy and weed plants. Furthermore, by means of our through lot management, it is possible to trace back all of our products via their field growing records. Through these and other activities, we are able to provide our customers with a safe and reliable product.
Quality starts from the ground up
The steps a grower takes in the field can assure the quality of the timothy. For that reason, Green Prairie is intimately concerned with the proper production steps. In order to provide the quality products demanded by our end users in Japan, we strive to offer growing support from a variety of angles, including the timing of seeding and harvesting, fertilization, and strain selection. We at Green Prairie also own our own cultivated land on the outskirts of Lethbridge, where we pursue the production of the best-quality timothy.
