The Columbia Basin, found in the northwest corner of the United States. This region, surrounded by the Cascade and Rocky mountain ranges, was covered in a bleak desert a mere half century ago. In 1941, irrigation projects were started in the basin, following the completion of the Grand Coulee Dam, the largest dam in North America. Thanks to such projects, the area has been transfigured into one large agricultural belt, representative of the United States Pacific Northwest. The bountiful water resources and plentiful sunlight allows this same region to produce an abundance of agricultural produce, ranging from feed crops such as alfalfa and timothy, to potatoes, onions, wheat, corn, apples, and cherries.
Sage Hill is located in the heart of the Columbia Basin. Our company's representative, Mike Davidson, has lived in this region all his life, his family having moved here during his father's generation. The Davidson family not only deals with the growing of alfalfa and other agricultural products, they have been involved in dairy and livestock farming for more than 100 years, during which time they have built up strong relationships with other feed crop producers and have succeeded in demonstrating long-term, multi-generational achievements. We are not only currently working with the feed stock processing industry, we are active in growing alfalfa and timothy as well as dairy farming, and we are constantly pursuing the development of superior quality feed crops from our standpoint as both a producer and a consumer
So just what are the conditions that make for really good feed crops? Theirnutrition contents? Their palatability? Their appearance? There are many answers, all of which depend on the conditions under which our customers use the crops. No one simple answer will do. Even in using the term "premium grade", each end user will likely expect a different sort of specification. It is for that reason that we at Sage Hill think seriously about who needs what sort of feed crop, and how are they use them.
We at Sage Hill have established a structure of close relationships with commercial farms throughout the Columbia Basin and have implemented an accurate lot management system. Through these business dealings, we are able to supply each and every one of our customers with the product they want. We also care about the safety of our products, and we provide accurate records of pesticide usage at the time of purchase.
